Japanese Ju-Jitsu in Muswell Hill

A broad martial art combining striking, throwing, locks, escapes, breakfalls, control and practical self-defence training.

A versatile martial art

Japanese Ju-Jitsu developed as a system for dealing with different types of physical confrontation. Modern practice brings its varied techniques into a structured training environment.

Because the art covers striking, standing grappling, throws, locks and defence on the ground, students learn to adapt rather than rely on one favourite type of technique.

Japanese Ju-Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

They share part of a martial arts family, but the typical training emphasis is different. Japanese Ju-Jitsu commonly includes striking, throws, joint locks and self-defence situations across standing and ground ranges.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu generally puts more sustained emphasis on ground grappling and submission fighting. Neither description makes one art universally better; the right choice depends on what you want to learn and which class you enjoy attending.
