Begin where you are

Never done martial arts before?

You do not need to be fit, flexible or familiar with martial arts before you start. Beginners learn the foundations gradually and train at a manageable pace.

“I’m not fit enough.”
“I’m too old to start.”
“Everyone else will know more than me.”

Those are normal first-class worries. The best way to find out whether Ju-Jitsu suits you is to try a welcoming session.

Useful, controlled training

Learn practical self defence

Training develops awareness, confident movement, balance, striking, escapes, control and practical defensive skills. Techniques are practised progressively, with attention to control and safe learning.

No martial art can guarantee personal safety. Good training can, however, give you more options, better movement and greater confidence under pressure.

How self-defence training works

One art, broad skill set

What is Japanese Ju-Jitsu?

Japanese Ju-Jitsu is a wide-ranging martial art that combines standing and close-range techniques. It is distinct from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which places a stronger emphasis on ground grappling; both are valid arts with different training focuses.
